1930-1984 Augusto Degois, a Brazilian artist, tapestry weaver, designer and cinematographer, was born in Belo Horizonte. He studied at Belo Horizonte School of Art in 1947 under Guignard and Edith Behring, later in 1961 learning the techniques of tapestry with Maria Marschmer. From 1967 he showed in collective exhibitions, often of tapestry, in Ouro Preto, Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo and Lausanne in Switzerland.
His work was included in a 1996 exhibition at Belo Horizonte municipal gallery called ‘Consolidacao da Modernidade em Belo Horizonte’. Degois had at least five solo exhibitions in Belo Horizonte and in 1969 he was given a one-man show at the Brazilian Embassy in Mexico City.
