Guido Antoni, a native of Muggia in Istria, Italy, was one of the foremost Trieste artists in the second half of the 20th century. Antoni was one of the pioneers of Lucio Fontana’s Spatial Movement in the 1950s before going his own way artistically.
He regularly exhibited in the top regional galleries and was rewarded at the end of his life with a major retrospective in late 2007 at the Palazzo della Borsa in Trieste. There he was described as an “artist who embodies a unique example of stylistic and existential autonomy unprecedented in the history of Friuli Venezia Giulia”.
